Position Summary
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you’ll be the main point of contact for multiple client engagements. You’ll be responsible for keeping the books current while ensuring accuracy and efficiency, closing out the books on a timely basis, preparing and reviewing financial statements, and maintaining professional communication with clients, vendors, and other team members. Additionally, you’ll assist with client onboarding, cleanup work, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Responsibilities & Duties
Accounting:
Utilize QuickBooks Online to manage financial records – categorize, record, reconcile, troubleshoot, correct, etc.
Review and code receipts, invoices, and bills
Perform month-end close procedures
Perform advanced bookkeeping tasks, including complex reconciliations, payroll, accruals, intercompany transactions, journal entries, etc.
Advanced sales tax compliance, reporting, and reconciliations
Complex cleanup projects
Financial statement analysis
Process Improvement:
Create SOPs (standard operating procedures) to document bookkeeping procedures, guidelines, and best practices for future reference and training purposes
Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and optimize productivity
Client Management:
Establish and nurture relationships with clients
Request documentation and information and ensure consistent follow-up to obtain necessary information
Keep accurate records and information about each client
Client onboarding and offboarding
Email, phone, and portal communications with clients
Zoom meetings with clients to review financial statements, answer questions, solve problems, and empower them to make well-informed decisions
Maintain data security and confidentiality in all activities
Non-Negotiable Requirements
At least three (3) years of experience in senior bookkeeping or accounting roles – public accounting experience preferred
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online – ProAdvisor certification is a plus
Tech savviness and the ability to quickly adapt to software and tech tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Meticulous attention to detail – We’ll only be giving interviews to applicants who answer the secret question in the Additional Comments section of the application: “What superpower do you have that makes you ideal for this position?”

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
Experience in a remote work environment
Proficiency in Microsoft 365
Experience working with interior designers is a MAJOR BONUS and will put you lightyears ahead of the rest of the candidates
Experience with payroll setup and processing
Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable
Experience with sales tax calculations and filings
Located in Eastern or Central time zones preferred
